Rahane, Ishant and Jadeja misses out due to injury for the second and final Test match

BCCI confirms the injuries to Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja and toss has been delayed at Wankhede Stadium due to wet outfield.

Friday morning has brought some blows to the already concerned team combination of the Indian team with Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja to be missing out on 2nd test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Rahane who was a captain in the 1st test has suffered a minor strain in his left hamstring as per BCCI reports and will be making a full-fledged way for the regular captain Virat Kohli to make his comeback in the team and Indian batting order.

Ishant who looked a bit off-colour in the Kanpur test will also be missing out due to dislocated finger. The 33-year-old didn’t manage to find a single scalp in the 1st test whereas all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who bravely contributed with both bat and ball at Kanpur has suffered a right forearm injury and will surely be missed in the Indian playing 11 at Wankhede.

The start of the 2nd test however has been delayed due to wet outfield courtesy of the continuous rain in Mumbai for the past 2 days which moisturises the atmosphere and will be interesting to see the already traditional bouncy Wankhede track to be assisting with more acclamation, especially the fast bowlers.

The morning bad news is not much different for the Kiwi camp as their captain Kane Williamson has also suffered a left elbow injury and will be missing out on the Wankhede test, with Tom Latham stepping to lead the side.

The 2nd test at Wankhede is the decider after we had a nail-biting draw at Kanpur, leaving a golden chance for the blackcaps to clinch the series because they’ve never managed to win a test at Indian soil since 1988.
