Punjab Kings have added a new pacer, Nathan Ellis to their team as Richardson and Meredith are ruled out of the IPL 2021

Punjab Kings will have to play the remaining matches of the IPL 2021 without their two Australian pacers, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith. Nathan Ellis, another Australian pacer has joined the team as a replacement for both.

Punjab Kings bowlers, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are set to miss the remainder of the IPL 2021 which is scheduled to play in UAE. Punjab Kings (PBKS) confirmed that both of their new signings in this auction, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith from Australia will not be seen playing in the second phase of the IPL 2021.

Both the Australian pacers had their debuts in this Indian Premier League 2021 season. Jhye Richardson was the Punjab Kings’ most expensive signing of this 2021 season at Rs. 14 crores. While Meredith was bought by Punjab for Rs. 8 crores. It is a matter of concern for the Punjab Kings and captain KL Rahul that both 24-year old pacers will not be playing for them in the remaining matches. However, they have brought a replacement for both the pacers. Another Australian pacer, Nathan Ellis, who took a hat-trick in his debut match for Australia in the Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh has joined Punjab Kings (PBKS). He will be in the Punjab kings squad for the rest of the matches of IPL 2021.

“Hi everyone, I’m super excited to be joining Punjab Kings for the 2021 IPL resumption in the UAE. Few more days of quarantine for me then I’ll be ready to go,” Nathan Ellis said in a video posted by Punjab Kings on Instagram and Twitter.

Nathan Ellis was also in the player auction of IPL 2021 with a base price of 20 lakh. But, the teams didn’t show any interest in the player and he went unsold. However, now he has a chance to show his bowling skills in the Indian Premier League 2021 which will be resuming from September 19.
