Islamabad United won the toss against Quetta Gladiators in the 12th Pakistan Super League match at National Stadium, Karachi and decided to bowl first. Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf got an early breakthrough and removed both the openers. Faf Du Plessis and Sarfaraz Ahmed then tied a partnership for Quetta to keep the boat afloat. Du Plessis piled up quick 17 runs off 11 balls and Ahmed hit 54 off 41. Ben Cuttings smashed a blistering 23 off 17.
Ashraf was the highest wicket-taker for Islamabad. He took three scalps conceding just 11 while Musa Khan was smashed for 39 in four overs. At the end of the 20th over, Quetta posted 156 for 7 on the card.
In reply, Islamabad were strong and sound since the beginning of the innings. Alex Hales scored 23 off 13 and his opening partner Paul Stirling scored 56 off 33. They shared a 76-run partnership between them. Rohail Nazir coming in at number three scored 34 off 28.
For Quetta, only Zahid Mahmood picked up three wickets. Islamabad United chased down the target with three overs to spare.
