President Ram Nath Kovind to inaugurate world’s largest Motera Cricket Stadium ahead IND vs ENG pink-ball test

In 2020, the then president of the United States of America, Donald Trump had inaugurated the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. But, on Wednesday, Indian president Ram Nath Kovind will formally inaugurate the world’s largest cricket stadium before the start of the third pink ball Test between India and England.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be a part of this inauguration ceremony as the guest of honour. The president is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. On Tuesday, President Kovind attended the third convocation of the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) at Gandhinagar as the chief guest.


The newly built world’s largest Motera Cricket Stadium is all set to host the day-night pink ball test match between India and England. The stadium is equipped with all modern technologies and facilities necessary for present day cricket.

The stadium has a huge sitting capacity of 110,000. However, because of COVID out-break, the stadium will have only 50% attendance during the inauguration ceremony.

On Friday, Sports Minister Kire Rijiju and BCCI secretary Jay Shah had also visited the stadium and witnessed its beautiful Hall of Fame zone. It has pictures of Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, CK Nayudu, Lala Amarnath, Vinoo Mankad, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly among those highlighted.
