PCB reportedly accepts New Zealand’s offer for White-Ball tour in January 2024

Pakistan is set to embark on a white-ball tour of New Zealand in 2024 following their tour of Australia. The offer for the series was put forth by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in May 2023 and has been reportedly accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The proposed tour could consist of either five T20Is or three ODIs. The cricket boards of both countries are currently engaged in discussions to finalize the schedule for the series, which is expected to take place after the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour of Australia on January 7, 2024.

As per a report by Geo News, the series is likely to commence in the second week of January, as New Zealand has an open window before their home series against South Africa in February. It is worth noting that Pakistan’s previous tour to New Zealand was for a T20I tri-series in October 2022, ahead of the T20 World Cup, where they emerged victorious by defeating the hosts in the final by five wickets.

In recent times, the two nations have played against each other frequently, with New Zealand touring Pakistan twice. The Kiwis first visited the country for a Test and ODI series that began in December 2022, followed by a T20I and ODI series in April of this year.

The Test series in December ended in a draw, while New Zealand won the ODIs 2-1. The T20I series this year was tied 2-2, with one match being washed out in Rawalpindi, while Pakistan emerged victorious in the ODI series with a 4-1 win last month.
