In a strategic move, Paul Stirling has been appointed as the permanent white-ball captain of the Irish men’s cricket team. The decision comes as Ireland gears up for two T20 World Cups and a 50-over event in the next four years. Stirling, who previously served as the interim skipper in white-ball formats, expressed his pride in leading the national team. With 376 international games under his belt, Stirling’s vast experience and passion for Irish cricket make him a valuable asset.
“I have very much enjoyed working with Heinrich [Malan] and the coaching staff over the last few months as interim skipper, but we all know that we have potentially three world cup campaigns over the next four years, and the work starts now,” said Stirling, emphasizing the team’s determination to qualify for the upcoming World Cups.
