Paul Collingwood takes charge as Interim head Coach of England

The former all-rounder has been promoted from assistant coach to interim head coach for the West Indies tour.

The England Cricket Board has appointed Paul Collingwood as the interim head coach of the England men’s cricket team for the upcoming three-match Test series against the West Indies which begins on 8th March.

Paul Collingwood’s appointment comes after the former head coach Chirs Silverwood was sacked after a shocking Ashes loss against Australia. Instead of appointing a new head coach in the team, the board has decided to promote the former all-rounder from the position of Assistant coach to make the adjustments as even as possible.

Paul also took charge of England’s tour of the Carebian last month in a five-match T20I series.

“I am genuinely excited to be leading the Test team for the tour of the Caribbean,” Collingwood said in an official ECB statement.

The former all-rounder appeared in 68 Tests,36 T20Is, and 197 ODI’s for England and scored under 10,000 runs across all three formats combined. He was handy with the ball as he use to bowl at a medium pace and took wickets at regular intervals for the team and has 144 wickets in the matches he played for England.

England’s squad for the Test series against the men in maroon is expected to be declared on Tuesday. with the team expected to depart for the tour on 24th February.

England will play a four-day warm-up match before locking horns with West Indies in the three Tests at Antigua, Grenada, and Barbados.
