On October 30, Pakistan defeated the Netherlands in Perth by a margin of six wickets to secure their first victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Pakistan’s first two matches, which they lost to India and Zimbabwe, caused fear in the camp. Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, won the toss and decided to bat first. This decision was disastrous because Pakistani pacers held the Netherlands to just 91/9 in 20 overs. Mohammad Wasim Jr. grabbed two wickets, while Shadab Khan took three.
In response, Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 runs to help Pakistan reach the target with 6 wickets remaining in under 14 overs. The victory maintains Pakistan’s flimsy semi-final aspirations, but much more needs to go right for them to advance past the fourth round. Bas De Leede suffered an unsightly gash just below his right eye when Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf struck the Dutch batter with a pitch on the grill of his helmet. De Leede had to go to the pavilion to retire hurt after speaking with the team physio even though no significant injuries were sustained.
He was forced to sit in the dugout with an icepack in his hand for the remainder of the game. After the game, the batsman was taken to the hospital for a checkup.
