Pakistan likely to lose Asia Cup hosting rights; ACC President Jay Shah will choose between the UAE and Sri Lanka

The Asia Cup 2023 will most likely be held in the UAE rather than Pakistan. The news follows the Asian Cricket Council meeting, which took place in Bahrain on Saturday, February 4. The Asia Cup venue was not decided at the meeting, but Pakistan is unlikely to host the 50-over tournament in the run-up to the 2023 World Cup.

A final decision on Asia Cup hosts will be made following another ACC meeting, which is expected to take place in March. The meeting in Bahrain was attended by ACC President Jay Shah, Pakistan Cricket Board President Najam Sethi, and representatives from the member countries.

“The ACC had a constructive dialogue on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Board agreed to continue discussions on operations, timelines and any other specifics with a view to ensuring the success of the tournament. An update on the matter would be taken on the next ACC Executive Board Meeting to be held in March 2023,” the ACC said in a statement.
