Pakistan announces squad for home series against New Zealand; Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi return

New Zealand will be touring Pakistan for the incredible white-ball series. Good news for Pakistan – Shaheen Afridi returns after 4 months.

The first three Twenty20 Internationals of the series will be played on April 14 in Lahore, followed by the concluding two Twenty20 Internationals in Rawalpindi. The first two One-Day Internationals will also be held in Rawalpindi before the sides finish the series in Karachi with three more ODIs.

Following a four-month absence, Shaheen Afridi has rejoined the national team as Pakistan’s officials have chosen a full-strength lineup for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand at home. Babar Azam, who was recently rested for the brief series against Afghanistan, will now serve as skipper.

Pakistan has also called back Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, and Fakhar Zaman for the upcoming series in addition to Babar. In addition to being called up for the ODIs, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, and Zaman Khan—who were handed chances against Afghanistan—have been retained for the T20I series.
