Beginning on December 1, the first of the three Test matches will be played in Rawalpindi. Head coach Brendon McCullum said that England pacer Mark Wood will miss the opening Test against Pakistan due to a hip injury he sustained during the recently finished T20 World Cup.

Wood has recently been playing for England in all forms, appearing in 26 Test matches and taking 82 wickets. The bowler was set to join the squad this weekend despite not having been to the UAE with the team for the three-match Test series preparations. The 32-year-old has been receiving treatment, and it is anticipated that he will be available for the second and third Test matches, which will be held in Multan and Karachi, respectively.

England will play its first Test series in Pakistan since 2005 under the captaincy of Ben Stokes. Prior to the T20 World Cup, a seven-match T20I series was played.
