In the deciding third and final test in Lahore on Tuesday, Pakistan fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi both took four wickets as Australia were all out for 391 in their first innings. After winning the toss and electing to bat at the Gaddafi Stadium, the visiting team reached 320 for five at lunch on the second day, with wicketkeeper-batsman Carey undefeated on 67 and all-rounder Green unbeaten on 79. Carey and Green extended their unbroken sixth-wicket partnership to 114 when they resumed on 232-5 against the second new ball taken overnight.
Australia, who started at 232-5, took advantage of a calm Gaddafi Stadium surface to bat for 28 overs without losing a wicket.
Shaheen was the one who got Pakistan off to a good start on Day 1, dismissing both David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne in three deliveries. The Australians were able to comeback, but Shaheen was once again necessary to close the innings. Shaheen finished the innings with figures of 4/79, uprooting the stumps.
According to the cricketing fraternity, the surface in Lahore for the final Test has also performed similarly to the first two Tests. However, both sides must bat on the pitch once to assess its condition. The series is now deadlocked at 0-0, and the winner will be the one to take home the trophy.
