Australia claimed their first win in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after two consecutive defeats. Australia defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Aussie skipper Pat Cummins expressed his happiness with the team’s performance. He was impressed with his bowlers for stopping Sri Lanka from crossing the 300-run mark.
“Nothing said much on the back of two losses. The energy on the field was great. They started very well. We bowled decently. We stayed at it. The bowlers hit the deck hard. I think high 300 was par on that. There are a lot of people watching this. Outside noise doesn’t bother us a lot. All parts of the game came together today. We would want to keep it up,” Cummins said in the post-match interview.
Australia will clash with Pakistan on October 20. Both teams will try their best not to deal with another defeat.
