
Pakistan not only lost their chance to go ahead in the tournament but were also sanctioned for a slow overrate according to the ICC code of conduct. The Asian side was charged with being four overs short during their match against South Africa. The team was charged a 20 percent penalty for their match fee.
On-field umpires Alex Wharf and Paul Reiffel and third umpire Richard Illingworth made their decision for the penalty after Pakistan lost to South Africa. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has to accept the sanction issued.
