The Netherlands defeated Bangladesh with another exceptional performance at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Netherlands dominated Bangladesh with the ball after putting up a decent total of 229 in the first inning. However, the Netherlands bowlers crumbled the Bangladeshi batting line really soon in the game. The men in orange claimed their victory by a huge margin of 87 runs.
Netherland skipper Scott Edwards expressed the dressing room’s happiness by saying they were pretty sure about the win.
“I think it was easy to be fair. We only had two days off. We were straight into traveling and into our plans. We were saying if we could get 220 plus, we were in the game. The bottom-order guys got us to a very competitive total,” said Scott Edwards.
He highly praised his bowlers for putting in an outstanding performance and claiming a smooth victory. He also ensured that Dutch cricket is only getting better with each passing day.
“The bowlers have been awesome. Aryan, Colin, and Bas, everyone. We have been superb on the field. Bit of everything. The system is getting more professional in the Netherlands. We train incredibly hard. We always said at the start of the tournament that we aimed for the semis. That remains our goal, but we have a few tough games coming up,” the Netherlands skipper concluded.
Nether defeated South Africa earlier, giving the leaderboard rulers their first defeat in the tournament.
