NZ vs ENG Day 3 Live: Skipper Ben Stokes misses a catch as Southee survives

England captain Ben Stokes missed a chance to grab the 8th wicket as on the early morning of Day 3, the skipper missed a catch.

Spinner Jack Leach’s delivery to Southee was smashed for a long shot but the skipper ran fast enough to get underneath the ball but the decision was misjudged as the ball couldn’t end it’s journey on the skipper’s hand, rather travelled for a boundary.

The hosts have resumed their batting session, which ended with a 7-wicket loss on Day 2 before the rain intervened.

Today, on Day 3, the umpires announced an early start, and the Kiwi duo of Tim Southee and Blundell returned to their positions to take on the final responsibilities.

With a lead of more than 250 runs, the chase appears to be impossible, and with England excelling at ‘BazBall,’ they may consider a hit-and-run strategy in their second innings.

On Day 2, England took complete control of the second Test against New Zealand, thanks to a lethal opening spell from James Anderson, who has risen to the top of the world Test bowling rankings. After England declared their first innings at 435-8, veteran seamer Anderson snagged 3-37 to send the Black Caps crashing to 138-7 when rain forced an early end to day two in Wellington. Spinner Jack Leach also took three wickets, leaving New Zealand trailing by 297 runs with three days to go.
