Nitin Menon retained in ICC Elite Panel of Umpires; Joel Wilson and Michael Gough dropped

India’s Nitin Menon has retained his place in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, marking his sixth consecutive year in the prestigious list. Widely regarded as one of the best umpires in world cricket today, Menon has officiated in 40 Tests, 75 ODIs, and 75 T20Is so far.

The ICC, on Tuesday, announced its updated Elite Panel, with two new additions — South Africa’s Allahudien Paleker and England’s Alex Wharf — replacing Joel Wilson and Michael Gough, who have been removed from the panel.

Meanwhile, another Indian umpire, Jayaraman Madangopal, has been promoted to the ICC Emerging Panel. The upgrade allows him to officiate in overseas Tests and ODIs. He has already officiated in one Test, 22 ODIs, and 42 T20Is.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated the newly inducted umpires, stating, “Being an elite official brings scrutiny and pressure, but we are confident Allahuddien and Alex have the temperament, experience, and skill to deliver at the top level.”

The ICC also thanked Joel Wilson and Michael Gough for their contributions over the years. In another update, former Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary, who recently retired, is set to make his commentary debut in IPL 2025.
