Nepalese spinner joins the Tasmanian team Hobart Hurricanes ahead of the BBL

Nepalese leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane signs deal with Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League. He was earlier part of the Melbourne Stars where he played with big Aussie names like Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.

He made his BBL debut for the Melbourne Stars in the year 2018. He has played 20 matches for the Stars in which he took 26 scalps to his name. His best bowling figure had 3 wickets to his name and gave 11 runs in his 4 over quota.  His first BBL season was fantastic as he took 11 wickets in the 7 matches he played averaging 16.30 with an economy of 6.97. He did decently in his second season as well as he took 15 wickets in 13 matches, averaging 22.30 with an economy of 7.44.

Hobart Hurricanes Twitter handle posted this on their timeline announcing the signing of the Nepalese spinner to their squad ahead of their BBL tournament.

Lamichhane hasn’t played many matches for the past few months as the pandemic hit the globe. He was part of the DC squad where he was benched for the entire season and didn’t get any chance to play for them. It will be interesting to watch if the Tasmanian team will feature him in the playing 11 or not as he doesn’t have much match practice ahead of the tournament.

BBL 10 kicks off from 10th of December where the Hobart Hurricanes will face the Sydney Sixers in the opening game of the tournament.
