Australia’s premier Test spinner, Nathan Lyon, has decided to end his long-term association with Sydney Sixers and join Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL) until the 2025-26 season.
Despite being known for his prowess in red-ball cricket, Lyon is excited to team up with Adam Zampa, Australia’s first-choice limited-overs spinner, at Renegades. Lyon believes that the spin-friendly Marvel Stadium will be an ideal platform to showcase his skills.
The move is part of Renegades’ plan to strengthen their squad and contend for the BBL championship. Lyon, recovering from a calf injury, is expected to feature in Australia’s Test summer but might miss a significant portion of the BBL season.
