Narul Hasan worries about cricketing future as fractured finger hasn’t healed despite surgery

Nurul Hasan, the wicket-keeper batsman for Bangladesh, is worried about his cricketing future because it’s unclear when his fractured index finger will fully heal despite having surgery for it.

Nurul, who had been named captain of the Bangladesh T20I team travelling to Zimbabwe, suffered a finger injury during the second T20I match there against the hosts and was consequently forced to miss the entire tour as well as the Asia Cup that followed.

Nurul underwent surgery in Singapore to recover from the injury, where hand surgeon Dr. Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital carried out a closed reduction and pinning procedure. He then agreed to play in the T20 tri-series in New Zealand before the T20 World Cup, and he has since kept playing despite experiencing pain. It really took a toll on him during the second Test against India, when he was forced to use suppository in order to play.

“As far as the state of injured finger is concerned, I have taken an injection after the last match (second Test against India) and that injection was a pain reliever,” Nurul told Cricbuzz on Sunday. “After that injection it (injured finger) is still numb and if stays this way it is ok but after the reaction of the injection gets over the pain might increase,” Nurul said.

“I played the Test series with suppository because there was huge pain and I was unable to do anything. Whenever the ball hit my left hand it was giving some kind of a shock so I was taking even the left side ball with my right hand. Let’s see I have had the injection and it is expected to have a reaction for couple of months and it( my finger) might get better,” he added.
