“My focus is on returning to the field,” Rashid Khan to make comeback in T20I series against Ireland

Afghanistan’s cricket captain, Rashid Khan, is gearing up to return to competitive cricket in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. Khan, renowned for his leg-spinning prowess, has been sidelined due to back surgery since the 50-over World Cup in November last year.

While Ireland clinched the one-off Test match victory, Afghanistan currently leads the ongoing three-match ODI series 1-0. The first ODI was claimed by Ireland, while the second encounter was washed out. Following the conclusion of the ODI series on March 12, Afghanistan will face Ireland in three T20Is, scheduled for March 15, 17, and 18 in Sharjah.

Despite the arduous journey, Rashid remains focused on returning to the field and contributing to his nation’s success. He stressed the importance of performing well against Ireland as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

With limited games before the World Cup, Rashid emphasized the significance of learning from each match and working hard in the lead-up to the tournament. He also highlighted the role of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in preparing Afghan players for the global event, noting that participation in the IPL will serve as valuable preparation.
