The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has presented a squad list of the Indian women’s cricket team for the 2022 World Cup on Thursday. BCCI Women, which is an official Twitter account of the Indian women’s cricket team posted the team via Tweet on Thursday morning. BCCI has kept plenty of regular players in the squad as Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana, Deepti, etc have retained their spot. But there are some controversies arising as some expected players were dropped from the World Cup 2022 squad by BCCI. BCCI Women has not only announced the team for the World Cup but also for their upcoming New Zealand series.

Experienced Indian batter Mithali Raj has been named as the captain and she will lead the team in the World Cup as well as in the ODI series against New Zealand. Harmanpreet Kaur, who is been named vice-captain in ODI’s and World Cup, is the captain of the Indian team for the one-off Twenty 20 International game against New Zealand. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced the 16-member squad for this one-off Twenty 20 International game against the Kiwis along with the 15-member squad for ODI and World Cup 2022. However, the biggest surprise for the Indian fans is that Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian batter who was in great form lately dropped from the squad which means she won’t be available to play against New Zealand and also won’t feature in World Cup 2022 as well. Shikha Pandey was another name that is been missing from the squad.
