Indian Captain Mithali Raj stresses the need to be “more consistent” in the areas that the team has worked upon over the past twelve months apart from sharing her improvement as a batter ahead of the Women’s World cup held in March-April.
For the best possible preparation of the ODI world cup amid COVID-19, India will play against New Zealand in five Match series starting from February 12. The World cup will also get hosted in the same country beginning from March 4.
With fresh players like Sneha Sharma who made an incredible comeback into the team, Meghna Singh, Yastika Bhatia, and Richa Ghosh, the likes of the players were tested in the series with Australia and England.
Yastika in the top Batting order, Wicketkeeper batter Richa and Pacer Meghna who made their ODI debuts the previous year have created a huge impact with their performances. Although India lost three-match series against Australia by 1-2, they were still able to push the Australians to a limit.
Speaking to PTI from Vijaywada where Mithali is training, the skipper looks back onto the positives that she witnessed from the two tours and what’s the next step she needs to take while playing in New Zealand.
Mithali Raj also said that the team will work upon the combinations in the World cup and the ODI series against New Zealand. They will also be getting the consistency in the team that they have been practising over the past year.
