MCA confirm Shams Mulani will captain Mumbai on their tour to Oman

MCA has confirmed that Shams Mulani will be the captain of their team in their tour of Oman. They will play 3 T20’S and 3 ODI’s in this tour.

Shams Mulani will lead the Mumbai Cricket Team on their tour to Oman. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed this news and the team will travel to Muscat for 3 ODI’s and 3 T20’s, as a part of their pre-season tour in the country.

A lot of their senior players will miss this tour due to national duty or for preparation to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will also feature in the IPL, have been selected to play with this team in Muscat. Their release was requested by chief selector, Salil Ankola himself.


Dube and Jaiswal will join the Rajasthan Royals camp in the UAE after the tour ends on September 3rd.

Oman had invited the MCA team for a preseason tour in their country, as per the Sportstar, so that they are prepared for the T20 World Cup which will be held in October-November 2021 in the UAE. Oman will also host six qualifying round games in their stadiums. The selection committee, led by Salil Ankola, selected the team and this will be the first test for the new head coach, legendary Mumbai batsman, Amol Muzumdar.

The team that will be travelling will be as follows: Shams Mulani (Captain), Aakarshit Gomel, Hardik Tramore, Armaan Jaffer, Chinmay Sutar, Shivan Dube, Aman Khan, Sujit Naik, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shashank Attard, Mohit Avasthi, Sairaj Patil, Deepak Shetty, Dhrumil Matkar.

The T20’s will be held on the 22nd, 24th and 26th of August. The ODI’s will be held on the August 29th, 31st and 2nd of September.
