The young bowling attack did a very fabulous on day 4 of the fourth and final Test in Gabba. Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj combined pick nine wickets as India winded up Australia’s second inning for 294/10. The game was interrupted by the rain halfway and the day ended with Indian Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill on the crease for India.
Mohammad Siraj picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket and found great support from his partner Shardul Thakur, who finished the inning with four wickets, Washington Sundar took the remaining 1 one wicket. In the absence of experienced Indian pacers, Siraj bowled his heart out against Australia. Siraj removed Josh Hazlewood to complete a memorable five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
Twitter was flooded with praises for the magnificent effort of Siraj at Gabba. RP Singh, one of the first few cricketers who picked up a five-wicket haul said “his father would be proud of him. Well done, Siraj” Akash Chopra wrote: “Lost his father, but chosen to stay in Australia, Got racially abused but didn’t let that affect him.”
Well done Siraj! Your father would be so proud of you. Your success is beyond wickets. This 5 wicket haul is a memorable effort. Now, its up to our batsmen! I am excited for a great chase. #INDvsAUSTest #brisbanetest

Lost his father. But chose to stay in Australia.
Got racially abused….but didn’t let that affect him.
Became the leader of the attack in only his third Test. And he’s taken a five-for. Love and respect for you Siraj. 👏👏 #AusvInd— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) January 18, 2021
BCCI also praised the young pacer by posting a video where Siraj was given standing ovation by his teammates in the dressing room while Virender Sehwag came up with a beautiful appraisal post. “The boy has become a man this tour. Siraj, leader of attack in his first Test series and he has led from the front,” he tweeted.
