Mahmudulla likely to retire after BCB neglects star cricketer’s place in the World Cup Squad

Bangladesh announced their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Mahmud Ullah, the former captain, will not be participating in the T20 World Cup in 2022 having Shakib Al Hasan leading the team. Bangladesh made significant adjustments from the team that lost in the Asia Cup elimination round.

Mahmudullah appears to be saying an untimely goodbye to the sport’s shortest format. The famous cricketer was offered a farewell game to cap his T20 career, a BCB official stated to Cricbuzz.

“Mahmudullah did not agree and said that he is not ready to retire and insisted he will play for another two years and try to make his way back in the national team,” a BCB official involved with the development confirmed Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

It is believed that the former captain did not anticipate being removed right from the T20I World Cup, especially after being made to feel as though he was an integral part of the team’s plans for the international competition. Despite being a vital member for the team, Mahmudullah’s poor run of scoring has caused the selectors take such harsh decision.

On the other hand, Mahmudullah had a bright outlook and had pledged to return quickly with a good form in the upcoming matches, but BCB did not pick him for the important test.

According to information obtained by Cricbuzz, when the selection committee asked T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan whether they should include Mahmudullah in the squad, Shakib responded diplomatically, stating that he was open to any situation and that he had neither support nor opposition for Mahmudullah’s selection.
