India’s KS Bharat narrowly escaped a stumping dismissal during Day 5 of the WTC Final. Nathan Lyon’s flighted delivery outside off enticed Bharat to drive, but he missed the ball and wicketkeeper Alex Carey quickly whipped off the bails, appealing for a stumping.
After a review, it was determined that Bharat had momentarily lifted his back leg but recovered in time. The TV umpire ruled him “not out.” This fortunate escape provided a crucial reprieve for Bharat and added to the gripping drama of the closely contested final.
