KL Rahul scores a 18 ball 50 to cruise his side to a win against Scotland

Both KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma showed some great batting skills at display. Although it was Rahul who stole the show by some fantastic stroke play, he brought up his fifty in just 18 balls at a strike rate of 250+.

Following up on his great inning in the match against Afghanistan, KL Rahul scored his second fifty in a row, to win the game for his team against Scotland. India’s luck seemed to have changed in their third game against Afghanistan where they posted a massive total of 210 and won the game with a great margin too.

Coming into the match against Scotland, they knew that they had to win the match with a big margin of balls to spare. This meant that they (India) would have to restrict Scotland for a total, which their batsman could chase in a jiffy. And that is what happened. India managed to restrict Scotland for a score of 85 in 17.4 overs. Now they had a task at hand to chase down the total under 7.1 overs, and the Indian opener showed great intent from the get going.

In his masterful inning, he scored 6 fours and 3 sixes to cruise his side home in just 6.3 overs.

This win means a lot for India, as it has placed India ahead of Afghanistan in the points table. They are also ahead of New Zealand in Net Run Rate, but it won’t amount to much considering that they’re 2 points behind the kiwis. If they are to make it to the semi-finals, then Afghanistan will have to defeat New Zealand, and India will have to manage to beat Namibia with a certain margin too.
