Former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jadgale feels KL Rahul should be handed over the Test captaincy for the Indian cricket team the 29-year-old could provide long-term leadership after Virat Kohli’s sudden decision to step down as the captain.

Kohli on Saturday shocked the cricket world after he stepped down as the Test captain of the Indian cricket team, a day after India lost the series at Newlands against South Africa.

“I feel that the next India Test captain should be the one who can take the responsibility for a longer period of time. So accordingly, I would suggest Kl Rahul’s name for the next Test captain,” former BCCI secretary Jagdale quoted to PTI as reported by TOI.

The BCCI is yet to make a decision on who will be the next Test captain for the side. Rohit Sharma was declared as the vice-captain for South Africa’s tour and Kl Rahul took over the skipper’s role in the second test as both Kohli and Sharma were not available due to injuries.
