Ross Taylor, the right handed middle order batsman who plays for the New Zealand side is currently eyeing to go till the next World Cup which in 2023 and to be played in India. Taylor who is currently 37 wants to play the 50 over World Cup as he feels that he has a lot more cricket left in him.
Ahead of the West Indies serie, Taylor said that the team is quite ready but also agreed to the fact that a lot of players didn’t get much cricket due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Few were part of the recently concluded IPL, while some players like himself played in the Carribbean Premier League in August.
He feels that this break from cricket actually did well for him as got to spend more time with his kids and wife. He then spoke about the upcoming tours where he mentioned that the last tour was against the Australian side where the series was called off after just one ODI due to rising threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that this is a historic moment for New Zealand as this is the first time since the pandemic hit the world, New Zealand will be hosting a series. When asked about his record which will be completed soon in upcoming matches to be the most capped player for New Zealand, he said that he always follows what his coach Martin Crowe says that records are just a number figure. They will be broken some day. Hopefully Kane will the one to brake it. I just like to play the game and win matches for my team.
Ross Taylor is currently at 8574 runs for New Zealand in ODI’s and at 7238 runs in test cricket. He averages a brilliant 48.4 in ODI’s and 46.1 in tests.
New Zealand will host the West Indies for a series which will begin from 27th November.
