Kane Williamson posts a heartfelt note after stepping down from Test captaincy

Kane Williamson is the captain of the New Zealand’s ODI and T20I teams.

New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson announced on Thursday morning, 15th December that he will not be leading the Test team. Kane Williamson stepped down from the Test captaincy of New Zealand and their board decided to give it to their experienced pacer Tim Southee.

Tim Southee is the new captain of New Zealand’s Test team. The former Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain also wrote a message on his Instagram along with a picture. He posted himself along with the new Test captain Tim Southee.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege to lead the New Zealand Test side over the last six and a half years. The role has taught me so much and I’m grateful for the many experiences, but I feel the time is right for someone else to step in and take the team forward. Thank you to the many people who have supported me in the role,” wrote Kane Williamson on his official Instagram handle.

Kane Williamson was one of the finest captains of the New Zealand Test team as he also won the first World Test Championship (WTC) in 2021 defeating India in the finals.
