BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has been officially named the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah will succeed Greg Barclay, who will step down in November after his term ends.
Shah will be the fifth Indian to lead cricket’s global governing body, following in the footsteps of Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N. Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. As the sole candidate for the position, Shah’s appointment was confirmed without the need for an election.
Barclay, who has served as ICC Chairman since November 2020 and was re-elected unopposed in 2022, decided to step down instead of pursuing a third term.
In response to his confirmation, Shah expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council.”
