Coming to the first inning of the match, Indian bowlers started with great intent, and picked up quick wickets at regular intervals to make sure that Scotland never got a grip of the game. They only gave away 27 runs in the powerplay and took two crucial wickets of both the openers to break the Scottish resistance lead by Munsey who scored 24 runs in 19 balls. From there onwards, no batter could find their feet on the crease, as Jadeja removed three more wickets in the middle order. It was a Mohammad Shami show towards the end, as the pacer picked up 2 wickets in the 17th over to reduce the opposition to 81 for 9. Bumrah applied the finishing touches by removing Mark Watt with a good yorker in the 18th over.

Alongside Bumrah, his partner in pace Mohammad Shami and spinner Ravindra Jadeja too achieved some personal milestones. Both Shami and Jadeja recorded their best ever bowling figures by picking 3 wickets each and conceding only 15 runs coincidentally. Bumrah is also the leading Indian wicket-taker in the T20 format with 234 wickets to his name in just 189 matches.
