A bad news for Gujarat Titans even before the start of IPL. England’s star opener Jason Roy has withdrawn his name from IPL 2022 citing the COVID-19 bubble as a challenge to stay in the tournament for a longer period. Gujarat Titans had bought Jason Roy for Rs 2 crore but Jason Roy has called it a big challenge to stay in the COVID-19 bio-bubble for so long, due to which he has withdrawn from this IPL season.
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya is gearing up for the upcoming IPL in Baroda along with head coach Ashish Nehra and it is a big blow to his team as well as to him as captain.
This season of IPL is to be played for about 2 months. Jason Roy was also a part of PSL recently and then staying in the bio-bubble in IPL would have proved to be a big challenge for Jason Roy.
According to the ESPNcricinfo report, Jason Roy had informed the Gujarat Titans franchise about his decision last week and the franchise has also started looking for an alternative to this batsman.
Jason Roy, who has made his mark in international cricket, has played 13 matches in the IPL, in which he has scored 329 runs at an average of 29.90.
This is not the first time that Jason Roy has withdrawn his name after being bought in the IPL, before that in 2020, Delhi had bought Jason Roy for 1.5 crore, But due to some personal reasons, Jason Roy withdrew his name from this season of IPL as well.
