“It feels like the captaincy has come in the hands of the right person,” says Wasim Jaffer

Former Indian cricket team opener, Wasim Jaffer praised India’s new captain Rohit Sharma and feels that he can become one of the most successful captains.

After the Indian cricket team clean-swept Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series as well as the T20Is which was played earlier, Rohit Sharma received a lot of appraisals from many ex-cricketers and experts as he didn’t lose a single game after BCCI officially named him the captain of the Indian team in all the formats. Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer was the latest to praise Rohit. The former opening batter feels that it was a correct decision to make Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma the skipper of the Indian team. He also feels that he (Rohit Sharma) can become one of the most successful captains in the cricketing world.

“Yes, he can become (a better Test captain than Virat Kohli). Don’t know how many Tests he will captain, but tactically I feel he is one of the best captains and we are seeing the results of how they have whitewashed each series. It feels like the captaincy has come in the hands of the right person,” said Wasim Jaffer to ESPNCricinfo.

He feels BCCI hasn’t done any mistake in giving Rohit Sharma a full-time captaincy role in all the formats. Rohit Sharma’s Blues clean-swept West Indies in both the T20I series and ODI series before Sri Lanka and it was a completely dominant performance from the team since Rohit has been made skipper.
