Suryakumar Yadav has shown some great intent and signs of form in the last match, where he scored 62 off just 40 balls to almost singlehandedly change the flow of the match. This inning relieved a lot of Indian supports and critics, who were starting to question his performance after an average IPL and a not-so-good outing in the World Cup as well.
After this performance, former player turned comment Irfan Pathan has attached great hopes with Yadav. On being asked about Yadav’s importance for the next T20 World Cup, Pathan said, “Suryakumar Yadav has given good signs for the future… If we talk about a 360-Degree player, I think Suryakumar is our answer to that question. Because he tries to play in all directions. He plays well against spinners and can deal with pace as well,” reports Hindustan Times.
Chasing the big score, Rohit and Rahul put up a good 50 run partnership up front, but with the latter’s departure, a sensible batter who could anchor the inning was required at the crease. In the absence of Virat Kohli, Yadav decided to do that job. Also, with the captain already playing at 31 off just 17 deliveries, there was not much Yadav was required to do other than support him. Slowly he too joined the act, and together the Mumbai Indians duo put up a fantastic partnership of 59 runs. Despite Rohit falling short of his fifty, Yadav kept going. He played some blistering shots in every direction of the ground to earn himself the title of 360-degree player.
