On Tuesday, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the talented opening batsman of the Rajasthan Royals, was crowned as the recipient of the prestigious Emerging Player of the Season Award for IPL 2023. The 21-year-old left-hander’s exceptional performances throughout the tournament earned him this well-deserved recognition.
Jaiswal’s breakthrough season saw him amass an impressive total of 625 runs in 14 matches, making him the fifth-highest run-scorer of the season. One of his standout innings came against the Mumbai Indians, where he scored a remarkable 124 runs off just 62 balls. This century made Jaiswal the fourth-youngest player in IPL history to achieve this milestone. Additionally, his innings also equaled the record for the highest individual score by a Rajasthan Royals batter in the tournament.
The young cricketer also etched his name in the IPL record books by striking the fastest half-century in the history of the tournament. He achieved this feat in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens, reaching his fifty off a mere 13 deliveries.
