Kolkata Knight Riders’ pacer Harshit Rana delivered a sharp spell against Chennai Super Kings on Friday, picking up 2 wickets while conceding just 25 runs in his four overs. But what stood out more than his figures was his light-hearted comment after the match — aimed at teammates Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine, who both dropped catches off his bowling.

“The focus was to execute the plans. We assessed what the wicket was doing and made bowling changes accordingly. The wicket was stopping a bit and bowling in the 5-6 meter length made it tough for batters,” Harshit said. “It is part of the game, I will ask Venky Bhai and Narine as well for dinner (for the dropped catches),” he added with a laugh.

His cheeky “dinner” comment echoes a viral moment from the ongoing Champions Trophy when Axar Patel, who was on a hat-trick, had a chance missed in the slips by Rohit Sharma. Axar had joked that he’d take Rohit out for dinner that night, creating a social media buzz.

In the game against CSK, Harshit struck early by removing Rachin Ravindra and later returned to dismiss Ashwin, helping KKR restrict the hosts to just 103/9 — their lowest-ever total at home in IPL history.

Despite the missed opportunities on the field, KKR’s bowlers dominated the innings, and Harshit’s banter adds some levity to an otherwise clinical bowling performance.
