With Rishabh Pant’s absence from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023 due to severe injuries sustained during a road accident in December last year, the Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting said it would be difficult for the team to go into the IPL 2023 without him.
Ricky Ponting said, “We’ll miss Rishabh Pant. If possible, we’ll call him in Delhi. He’ll be sitting beside me in the dugout. He’s a guy with lots of energy and a terrific attitude. We can have his number on our shirts or caps. To clarify that he’s our leader, even if he’s not with us.”
Head coach Ricky Ponting also discussed his plans for the Capitals’ first-choice wicketkeeper in the absence of Pant. Ponting stated, “We have not decided on that yet. We will take a look at the practice games ahead to decide. There is one big hole Rishabh leaves behind. The impact player rule gives us several options to determine the playing lineup.”
