In a video shared by DC’s official handle, players and support staff were seen extending warm congratulations to Rahul, celebrating his personal milestone with smiles and symbolic gestures. The video was captioned, “Our family extends, our family celebrates,” marking a moment of unity in the cricket fraternity.

Ashutosh Sharma stars in final-over drama

On the field, it was Ashutosh Sharma who rose to the occasion with an unbeaten 66 off 31 balls, guiding DC to 211/9 in pursuit of LSG’s challenging 209/8. The Capitals had slumped to 66/5, but Ashutosh’s calm presence and fearless hitting in the final overs turned the match on its head. He struck 35 of the 61 required runs in the last five overs and sealed the deal with a towering six to wrap up the chase.

Pooran-Marsh power LSG to 209

Batting first, LSG rode on explosive half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran (75) and Mitchell Marsh (72) to post 209. The pair combined for a whirlwind 87-run stand, with Pooran launching four sixes in a row off Tristan Stubbs. However, DC clawed back in the death overs, with Mitchell Starc picking three wickets and restricting LSG’s total under 210.

DC stumble early but recover through middle

Delhi had a rocky start, losing four wickets inside the powerplay. But Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel stabilized the innings before middle-order acceleration came via Stubbs and Ashutosh. Despite losing wickets in clusters, Ashutosh’s resilience ensured DC held their nerve in a last-over thriller.

Brief scores:
LSG 209/8 (Pooran 75, Marsh 72; Starc 3/42)
DC 211/9 (Ashutosh 66*; Shardul 2/19)
Result: Delhi Capitals won by 1 wicket.
