Royal Challengers Bangalore lost quick wickets on slow and turning pitch of MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. The league opener match saw RCB failing miserable in the batting department against CSK. The likes of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Glen Maxwell and Cameron Green combined scored 74 runs before the side lost 5 wickets under the score of 100 runs.
Virat Kohli seemed well set before he took on Mustafizur Rahman which resulted him in losing his wicket, leaving his side desperate for a partnership to put up a defendable total. Virat Kohli’s wicket remained a highlight as Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra’s brilliant piece of mind while fielding at deep-mid wicket. Rahane ran from deep-mid–wicket towards his right to further slide and take the catch. Rahane further relayed it towards Rachin Ravindra as he was sliding towards boundary. The presence of mind by the Mumbai Ranji team skipper helped CSK prevent Virat Kohli from going all berserk at CSK’s home ground.

Virat Kohli has got much at his hands to prove as the T20 world cup is approaching. He is expected to perform best, especially on slow wickets that is being considered as Virat’s weakness. CSK were able to exploit Virat’s inefficiency on slow and turning wickets like MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be hopeful to begin this season with a win as it is his debut to lead the side after taking over the captaincy from MS Dhoni.
CSK won the last season and they will be hopeful to defend their title and win for sixth time, most by any team in IPL followed by Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
