Since Rishabh Pant will not play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will undoubtedly have a new captain. The DC captain is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to an accident that occurred on December 30. Rishabh was tasked with leading the franchise once more after assuming full-time command of DC in 2021.

As per the reports, the officials are rooting for David Warner to lead the franchise in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League.

“Pant has been the mainstay of the middle-order. Warner has the experience of leading IPL teams. The management will speak to him. The middle-order needs an impactful Indian batter now. Sarfaraz will be asked to keep wickets if the combination asks for it. Meanwhile, the team will be looking for a domestic wicketkeeper or a strong batter,” a source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Veteran IPL captain Warner famously led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the league’s 2016 championship. In 69 games as captain of the T20 league, he has 35 victories. In 2013, Warner, who was still a rookie, was given the opportunity to captain DC while the regular captain was away. Both games were lost by the franchise while he was in charge.
