TATA IPL 2022: Yuzvendra Chahal joins Lasith Malinga in the elite list of bowlers

Chahal also leads the purple cap standings with 17 wickets and a 7.33 economy rate in IPL 2022.

After his incredible hat trick in the 30th match of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Yuzvendra Chahal joins Lasith Malinga, former Sri Lankan cricketer and RR’s fast bowling coach, in the elite list of most wickets taken in IPL history with 156 wickets in his record.

Dwayne Bravo leads the list with 177 overall wickets in the IPL, followed by Lasith Malinga with 170.

Yuzvendra Chahal had a magical night at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Monday against Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL 2022 match. The leg-spinner took four wickets in an over, including one with a hat-trick – his first in the IPL – to dramatically turn the match around and lead RR to a stunning 7-run victory in a match that kept changing directions. In the 17th over of KKR’s chase, Chahal dismissed Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Mavi, and Pat Cummins.

At the post-match press conference, Malinga stated, “Chahal has more international experience. He is the most experienced leg-spinner in the country and in this tournament. He showed how to control the skill. That’s more important for him going forward to prove he is good enough to play any competitive cricket.”
