TATA IPL 2022: Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult help Rajasthan Royals move top of the table

In the 20th match of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Sunday special. LSG won the toss and decided to field first. Rajasthan Royals were able to put on a score of 165 runs in twenty overs. For RR, Shimron Hetmyer played an impressive inning of 59 runs off 36 balls. His innings included one boundary and six massive sixes. The most unique event that happened in this match was, Ravichandran Ashwin being retired out. He became the first batsman in the history of IPL to do so. Ashwin ran straight towards the dressing room, after completing the run, sending Riyan Parag in. According to the ICC rules and norms, what Ashwin did is totally legal.

In the second inning, LSG was only able to score a total of 162 runs in their twenty overs. RR restricted LSG for 162, to win the match by 3 runs, going to the top of the points table. For RR Yuzi Chahal bowled an incredible spell of 3/26. Trent Boult also sent LSG captain KL Rahul and Krishnappa Gowtham back to the pavilion on the first two balls of the match. Kuldeep Sen bowled a brilliant final over to stop Marcus Stoinis from scoring 15 runs in the final over. Quinton de Kock (39 off 32) was the highest run-scorer for LSG. Prasidh Krishna was also impressive with a spell of 1/16 in his three overs.

Marcus Stoinis in his first match of the season played a brilliant fighting cameo of 38 runs in 17 balls to give RR a close fight.
