After his third golden duck of the season in the 54th match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Virat Kohli joins Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma as the players with the most golden ducks in an Indian Premier League season while batting in the top five.
The match began in the worst possible manner for Virat Kohli, when he once again went for a golden duck. Kohli gave Kane Williamson a simple catch from bowler Jagadeesha Suchith’s delivery in what may be seen as an easy dismissal. It was only the first ball of the game, so neither the batsman nor the spectators could believe it. Kohli was spotted walking back to the changing room slowly after being dismissed.
His previous golden duck was also against SRH, which was intriguing. Kohli was removed for a golden duck by Marco Jansen in the match, while he was batting at number three.
His first season duck happened against the Lucknow Super Giants.
With the bat, the former RCB captain is having a terrible season, with only 216 runs in 12 games. Despite his contributions with the bat in the previous two games, his strike rate was poor.
Suresh Raina of the Chennai Super Kings has three golden ducks in the 2013 season, while Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has three in 2018.
