TATA IPL 2022 Umpiring failure: Successful review by RCB sends LSG captain KL Rahul to pavilion

KL Rahul was stated not out by the umpire. After a discussion between Harshal Patel and Virat Kohli, RCB took the review which went successful to send the man in-form KL Rahul back home.

On Tuesday, Lucknow Super Giants faced Royal Challengers Bangalore in D.Y. Patil stadium, Mumbai. Chasing a target of 182 runs. KL Rahul was looking in great touch and was at a score of 30 runs off 24 balls, including three fours and two sixes. At the last ball of the 7th over Rahul was looking to glance the ball on the leg-side and got a minor edge. The edge was so minor, that the wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik didn’t even hear the noise and didn’t appeal.

After a quick discussion between Harshal Patel and Virat Kohli, Kohli who is captaining RCB today, after Faf du Plessis suffered an injury in the first innings took the DRS. Taking the review seemed like an excellent decision for RCB. In real-time, it seemed like the ball flicked the pad but after the review through UltraEdge and slow-motion replay, it was evident that it nicked the bat.

The umpire later had to change his decision and declare KL Rahul out. Rahul’s dismissal was a breakthrough for RCB, with Rahul being the man in form and coming from a stunning century in the previous game.
