Umesh Yadav’s greatest bowling stats in the IPL came as Kolkata Knight Riders limited Punjab Kings’ batting line-up to only 137 runs. As Kolkata cleaned out Punjab in 18.2 overs, Umesh ended with 4 for 23 – two in the powerplay and two in the middle overs.
Tim Southee also took two wickets. In the middle overs, the remaining bowlers, particularly the spinners, complimented them wonderfully, surrendering 37 runs in eight overs, with 27 dot balls and two boundaries amongst them.
Umesh Yadav came up for a chat. The speedster said he is very happy with his performance. Shares that he has not played white-ball cricket for a long time but he is pleased he is able to do well. Mentions his job is to take wickets with the new ball and that is the role given to him and he tries his best. Adds that he feels it is a chasable score, the ball is skidding onto the bat unlike the wickets before and it should be chased.
