TATA IPL 2022: Suryakumar Yadav ruled out of the season due to forearm muscle injury

Suryakumar scored 303 runs at an average of 43.29 in eight games for the Mumbai Indians this season, including three half-centuries.

The Mumbai Indians were given a huge setback only hours before their IPL 2022 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders when their opening batsman Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out for the rest of the season. On May 6, Yadav was injured during the team’s match against Gujarat Titans.

In a statement released on Monday, the IPL confirmed the news. “Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury. Yadav sustained the injury during the team’s fixture against Gujarat Titans on 6th May, 2022,” the statement noted.

MI is coming off a five-run win over the Gujarat Titans, who are currently in second position. MI has already been knocked from the playoff race, since they have only four points from ten games, and even if they win all of their remaining games, they will only have 12 points, well short of what is required to move to the next level.
