TATA IPL 2022: Shreyas Iyer’s all-round efforts promotes him as an allrounder for T20 World Cup?

Shreyas Iyer’s batting masterclass is yet to unleash in the IPL but the Mumbai batter has produced another talent that puts him in the all-rounder category.

Shreya Iyer’s fine knock of 42 runs against his former team in IPL was a benchmark the Mumbai batter is trying to set in the middle. KKR lost the match against Delhi Capitals as the side couldn’t defend the respectable total of 146 runs. Delhi Capitals chased the total with the likes of David Warner, Rovman Powell, and Axar Patel stepping up to save the match and secure victory. Captain Rishab Pant failed again under pressure when the left-handed explosive batsman got out to Umesh Yadav at a meager score of 2 runs.

Umesh Yadav yet picked up 3 wickets for KKR while no other bowler could produce an impact on the match. Apart from Tim Southee, Sunil Naraine, and Umesh Yadav, no other bowler completed his quota of overs. Surprisingly, the exacerbating situation forced the captain to roll his sleeves to get the team across. Shreyas Iyer bowled a decent over, leaking 7 runs, but producing an all-around skill.

Amidst the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer could be another part-timer that the team may look to add in its arsenal for the upcoming T20 world cup. Shreyas Iyer who can bat in the middle is talented enough to help the team with crucial overs when the bowlers would have an off day, but a lot depends on which spot he suits when the middle order is nearly occupied until Virat Kohli is out of contest for securing middle-order.
