Shikhar Dhawan, who made a half century in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 against Chennai Super Kings, is currently the second batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League with 46 fifties, behind only David Warner, who has 53.
Dhawan’s unbeaten 88 off 59 balls with nine boundaries and two sixes, helped Punjab kings set a target of 188 for Chennai super kings to chase down.
Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa put on a 110-run partnership for the second wicket as they steadily increased the scoring rate. In the 12th over, Dhawan unleashed, smashing left-arm bowler Mukesh Choudhary for three consecutive boundaries.
Dhawan also followed Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the only Indian batsmen to reach the 9,000-run mark in T20s. He needed 11 runs to get there, and the left-hander got there after overcoming a sluggish start when Chennai decided to bowl after Ravindra Jadeja won the toss.
Shikhar Dhawan also became the third player in the Indian Premier League to score 1000 runs against a single franchise, behind Rohit Sharma and David Warner. On Monday, he reached the milestone during PBKS’s crucial match against CSK.
